Islamic Studies Program at Ihsan School
The Islamic Studies curriculum focuses on:
1) Tawheed/The Oneness of Allah
2) Aqeedah/The Islamic Creed (belief)
3) Ibadah/Worship
4) Akhlaaq/Islamic Manners
The Islamic Studies and Arabic departments focus on inspiring our students by instilling the love of Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in their hearts. Our teachers use the “I Love Islam” textbooks for Elementary students and “Learning Islam” textbooks for Middle School. The curriculum is designed to gradually aim to introduce Muslim Elementary students to the essentials of their faith and bring to light historic and cultural aspects of Islam to students. Students in middle school deepend their understanding of Islam through stories, poens, discussions, debates, and activities.
Students also work on extended projects, and research to go beyond the obvious. Islamic events, such as an annual Islamic Education Fair annual Arabic Spelling Bee, & an Annual Hajj program are held throughout the year to refelct the importance of Islamic concepts. Quran classes focus on review and continued memorization of surahs starting from Juz 30 onwards. Each students is pushed at his/her level and their work is based on individualized instruction.
